Model Description
3D model of dennedesigns
The models were repaired and checked for printability.

The area between the function y=2x^2-x^3 and the x-axis is rotated about the y-axis...Show more creating a volume of revolution. This model shows this volume approximated by 16 cylindrical shells. (The 16th shell in the center has zero volume so is not included in the print model!) Note that this volume of revolution is an example of one whose volume cannot be computed using the method of disks.

This model was designed and printed by my WLU summer research student Ryan McDonnell ('17).

This object was made on a MakerBot2X. We recommend the following settings:
2 shells
0.20mm layer height
10% infill (hexagonal pattern)
no supports
raft on

The first time we printed this, we printed it without a raft. It was incredibly difficult to remove the object from the build bed. So we recommend printing with a raft, hopefully the object will be easier to remove.
